I ran across this little cat toy, Jingle Bell Mouse on Ravelry and just had to share.
The pattern is available at The Yarn & Hook. Great little scrap project, and I think my daughters cats would love these. They would also be a cute little gift for the mouse lover, with or without the jingling. Can’t wait to make some!
I have been hard at work making lots of the little solid granny squares. I thought I would find it tedious after a while, but they were so quick to make that I just kept churning more out.
And lots of sewing together begins…
A while back I bought one of the new Furl’s Odyssey crochet hooks. I am hooked! I can crochet for hours and hours with no more aching hand! So I splurged and bought one in every size they had (I will get the B, C and D when they have them in stock). Although they are much more expensive than the aluminum hooks you can buy anywhere, I need them so I can crochet pain free. Maybe someday I will really splurge and buy one of their beautiful heirloom wood hooks!
I came up with a solution to the hooks not having the size marked on them in any way (Furl’s, you need to do something about that!). I got a white paint pen and wrote the size on the ends, which worked nicely. The paint pen gives you some time to wipe it off and redo, which I needed because neatly writing on that slippery, tiny end wasn’t easy. Let them dry and they were good to go.
The bag you see behind them is a bit of a splurge too. I needed something to keep the hooks in, and they wouldn’t fit in any case I already had. This is a Vera Bradley Double Zip Cosmetic (got it on sale) and it is working perfectly! The larger side fits all my hooks, with room for a few more and the smaller side has plenty of room to hold notions, scissors and other needful things. Although the hooks are just loose in there instead of each having their own individual slot, at least they are all together in one place and not getting lost. The cosmetic bag comes in a few other patterns too.
I have no affiliation with Furls or Vera Bradley and get nothing from these links, just love them!
I ♥ Granny Hearts! The small one is a nice applique, the large one makes a nice coaster. They are so cute together! The beginning is slightly different for each heart. Quick to make up for Valentine’s Day in one or more colors.
and a closer look, the pattern and diagrams are below…
I have admired crochet blankets made up of many small squares for as long as I can remember. I love the quilt-ness of them, and the thrifty using up of what is left over from other projects. The wonderful many colors they contain.
It also seems a bit overwhelming with so, so many little squares. So, so many weaving in of the ends (my least favorite part). But, I have decided to take the plunge just the same! I have quite a bit of leftover yarn I can use up, and perhaps I will buy a few additional colors to add into the mix. I want to keep it to earthy colors so the throw will match my brown furniture.
These little squares are about 2 3/4 inches each, just two rounds of a basic solid granny square done with worsted weight (medium weight 4) yarn and an H hook. Continue reading “Small Solid Granny Squares”
I wanted a simple shawl, one that wasn’t fancy and frilly but still had a little border to give it a bit of something extra. One I could wear everyday with jeans and would coordinate with lots of things.
Crochet chair socks! Keep your chairs warm ; ) and protect your floors. You know you can’t live without them!
Every dog deserves a beautiful hand crocheted mat to lie on.
You can’t make just one…
The colors are brighter than in the photos, nice rich fall colors. I think the solid center one is my favorite, today at least…
